This Rocky Mountain Greater Sandhill Crane flock, numbers about 25,000 individuals. These migratory water fowl spend winters in New Mexico on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Game Reserves, leaving in early spring for nesting sites in Canada, Alaska and Siberia. The white flocks are Arctic Snow Geese who also winter in the warm New Mexico wetlands.
